Dear Ladies,

Welcome to the Golden anniversary year of the International Women’s Club of
Stockholm.

First of all I must congratulate our dear Sisi Rasmussen, one of the nine founding mothers of the IWC who took on the challenge of setting up the club. Thank you, Sisi.

I do not need to introduce myself, as I guess you already know me, Kanthi S. Beck your former Vice President. This year I will serve you as President for the club’s 50th year.

The IWC plays an important role for newcomers to Stockholm, senior members who were once newcomers, and Swedish ladies who have been living abroad and are seeking a multicultural experience on their return. The IWC has been providing just such a platform where newcomers can acclimatise themselves and do a bit of networking with new and old members. Many lifelong friendships have been created over the past 49 years. Also, together we are taking many opportunities to help needy women and children around the world.
The IWC has reached its 50th year. It’s an important jubilee year, so now’s the time to celebrate. To celebrate the 50th Anniversary the Executive board will be organising a programme of special events throughout the year. Mrs Stina Dabrowski has kindly agreed to be the guest speaker at our first lunch in September and I thank her on your behalf.

Finally I would like to welcome all our new members. I would also like to thank the IWC’s Executive Board for being such a great team to work with. Thank you also to all the coordinators, social activity leaders, committee members and many other active members for keeping the club running. Being an IWC member is a two-way experience; enjoying the benefits and helping whenever possible.

By the way, what a wonderful summer we are having. Enjoy it, as a new season will
soon be with us.
