Dear friends,
What a lovely time we had at our Valentines luncheon! It was very nice to greet so
many members and guests, including four gentlemen, at Läkaresällskapet on a cold
February morning. We had a really nice time together chatting to each other and
listening to some beautiful songs. Thank you Kanthi for arranging this lovely “last
minute” program. We all appreciated it very much.
We were sorry that we could not listen to our invited guest speaker, Dr Walburga
Habsburg Douglas but unfortunately she could not attend due to the death of her
mother some days before. She, however, sent her best wishes and apologies for not
being able to attend. We send Dr Habsburg Douglas our condolences and deepest
sympathy.
On behalf of IWC Board, I would like to inform our members that our dear friend and
one of our IWC past presidents, Mrs Monique Berndtson passed away on February
8. Monique was not active just now, but was always interested in knowing about our
Club activities. It was with great sorrow and respect that the members present at her
luncheon honoured her memory with a moment of silence. We remember Monique
with gratitude.
Our March luncheon will be a very special one. The focus will be on Guatemala in
Central America, the Maya culture and the philanthropic project will give benefit to
an orphanage and children’s school there. We are very grateful to Mrs. Margareta
Eidensten, the Honorary Consul of Guatemala in Stockholm and an IWC member as
well who is working very hard to offer a wonderful program to our members. Please
take a look at our Philanthropic and Program pages and feel inspired to attend this
luncheon and make a difference. Unfortunately, I will be unable to attend as I am
taking some days off to visit my home country. However, during this period, our Vice-
President, Mrs. Kanthi Beck kindly accepted to take care of the Club. Thank you very
much Kanthi for your help, I am sure the luncheon will be a great success.
I would like to welcome a new member to our Board, Mrs Marion Lindh, who has
been appointed by the Nominating Committee to the position of Program hairperson.
I would like to wish Marion good luck and great success in this position.
I hope you will have a very nice and, hopefully, warm, bright spring.
Have a happy International Women’s day!
See you all in April.
Warmest regards,
Marilda
